@hemantpremi This is not the right topic for this. I personally never traded automatically, I only have > 10 margin calls from manual trading. I don't ask the people here whether or not their EAs are profitable. My personal opinion is that Forex is just a casino where you can only lose your money 🙂

Unfortunately the CPU speed in Vultr appears to be very slow, at least for MetaTrader's compilers. But at least I think I will be able to switch VPS with almost no downtime.

I guess you can't have it all without a big price tag. I found some posts, an older one talking about vultr previously providing 3.4GHz cores, then down to 2.4Ghz and a newer 2018 post states 2.6GHz...

I don't know if you're using more than 1 CPU (1 core, VPS providers make it confusing) but this site talks about the issues with MT4 being an older 32 bit program and not being efficient on multiple cores. I also don't know how the back end of fxdreema works but it may be of use to you if you're using an MT4 compiler...

The current VPS expires today, so I switched the IP address to the server I prepared in Vultr. For those who now see fxdreema.com from Vultr, it will be slower, because it connects to the database in the old VPS. I will switch to local database after 1-2 hours, when I expect most people to see the website from the new VPS.

@L333z, there is NodeJS on the back end and NodeJS also works on 1 core, so technically I don't need more than that. But it's not about the numbers, obviously. At the moment I have few VPS - the old one, InterServer, Vultr and A2hosting - and I wanted to try 1$1 and Contabo, but I could not register properly. In every place there is at least 1 bottleneck:

            • Current VPS - good CPU, normal Disk, but only 2 GB RAM, sometimes this is not enough
            • InterServer - good CPU, more RAM, but very slow Disk
            • Vultr - even more RAM (4GB), awesome Disk, but slow CPU
            • A2hosting - enough RAM (4GB), even better Disk (read speed 1GB/s), but the CPU is not that amazing for the price

I feel that the only difference between cheap shared hosting and VPS hosting is that I have Remote Desktop. Technically VPS is also shared hosting. So I guess I need a Dedicated server, but where? With those strange VPS problems, what could I expect from Dedicated servers? 🙂

Now the website is working from Vultr VPS. But there is one unexpected problem. They block port 25, which is used for emails, and because of that I can't send emails.

EDIT: port unblocked and emails are now working

Hey I have a quick question I heard MT5 has 99% tick data is that true? Also I'm having a hard time figuring out how to upload my EA to the MT5 platform and it actually show up in the adviser section. I have the MT5 version.

                if anyone could help please.

                and thanks in advance

@sirderrick822 Hi, yes you can test with your very own broker's data feed (variable spreads, slippage, and real ticks), MT5 will download them for you. However:

                  • Check that your broker provides GOOD data-feed. Flat candles can make your indicators go crazy, also spread can be very inaccurate for some days that are not even holidays (in ICMarkets for example).
                  • Know that MT5 will try to "fill" missing data with higher time-frame candles without telling you, and still won't replace flat candles for you (although it will take them in consideration for its "accuracy" % formula).
                  • Tick data may be limited by a few months AT BEST, so it would only benefit if you use very low time-frames (which i don't really recommend for several reasons, HFT being one of them, also the noise).

For the EA to show on the adviser section just copy/paste both the mq5 and compiled version to the "experts" folder (note that there are several within).

You can also use 1M bars and simulate "ticks" using elliot-wave-like movements (note that they are not real ticks), this can help with intermedium time-frames.

I preferably use calculations on every open, on carefully made EA's for quick optimizations (the difference between tick tests and these do not vary when done this way), i cannot use hard stops, but they don't work in the long run anyways, only technical stops are O.K.

If anyone used the Support page to send me a message in the last few hours, I think that those messages are lost. This is because I did a stupid mistake of course.

@abade69 yeah for what ever reason their still not showing up I've put them in both places inside the advisor folder and outside and I put in both the MQ5 and the compiled version. should I try to delete mt5 and download it again?

@sirderrick822 That is odd. You can try:

                          • Testing on multiple MT5 platforms.
                          • Looking for any kind of errors/warnings during compilation.
                          • Check version compatibility.

Hey there! I stumbled upon this thread while hunting for similar info, and I found your discussion on VPS quite interesting. If you're interested in testing your EA, it's crucial to ensure you have a reliable data feed and be aware of the limitations and potential issues with MT5's data handling. It can get a bit tricky, but with careful optimization and using intermedium time-frames, you might find some success.
