Slow internet connection

What’s the quickest way to test your algo if you have slow connection?
-
@gtoat777 An interesting question. Do you mean backtesting it or just checking broker server's connection speed? If the second one, I'm also interested in that.
-
@l-andorrà no I meant just simply back testing the bot

internet doesnt directly affect the EA for testing, but the best thing you could do is download the data from dukascopy and import a custom indi into your metatrader platform...
But honestly, after you run an all ticks test on 1 pair, it downloads the data the first time and its there forever.

@TipsyWisdom wow thanks i didnt know you could download historical data for free, how do i import that data into MT4, is there somewhere that has a tutorial on it

@gtoat777 youtube is king!
"creating custom symbols in metatrader"But in the mean time, Id start downloading the data from tickstory (im fairly certain there is a free version) and yes, the downloads take forever. I would suggest doing this:
DL tickstory, find 1 or 2 pairs to start with (dont try to home run all of them at the start, it takes a long time to download), but the best way ive found to do it that skips steps is right clicking the symbol you want and click "export to MT5." I do tick data, from 2010 today. Its usually a few gigs per pair so dont use a limited HD for this. This method, it automatically downloads and converts it to ticks in 1 step to the folder of your choosing. -
@gtoat777 yes, you could download free historic data, but that not means that them are reliable... Mnaipulation from metaquotes is usual

@uriel-0 dukascopy is a very reliable source.
