Flat Market Trend Indicator
-
Does anyone know what trend indicator indicates when the market is flat?
I mean also when it is up and down indicate when it is flat? -
@rodrigo-ortuzar no indicator can read sideways good enough. But you can rely on ATR / ADX, or maybe other custom indicators.
-
@rodrigo-ortuzar You could use 2 moving averages, check distance between and when close is flat and when separated is not, MA's are a lagging indicator and spikes will cause widening but may do as needed.
-
Yes @jstap , i also tried using MAs before this.
-
@biztet I have many times, started using 2 (periods matter but 10 & 20 seem to work) then when touching count seconds, when count = chosen number place 2 pending's, seems to work.
-
Ok, now i see it. Use pendings. Btw, which pair did you use?
-
@biztet Nasdaq, but probably works on most.

@rodrigo-ortuzar @biztet This is how I count seconds of MA's touching: https://fxdreema.com/shared/lkzh96Iud

Thanks @jstap. Will make as reference. Coz i can't compile it.

hello jstap and biztet, sorry but I did not understand how to apply ATR/ADX and also how to apply the seconds in the MA 10 and 20. I can tell you that I am trying to use a simple method to apply, the standard deviation for example of 100 and Below the number 400 the market is flat and above 400 the market is active up or down. I would appreciate it if you make a correlation of which method best adjusts to the reality of predicting the market when it is flat and tell me about it.
