How long is Flag Trigger working
-
Hi guys, recently testing Bollinger Bands Flag Trigger with Stochastic Crossover.
How long is the Trigger of BB Flag available when the Band is touched.
Got the tips to use Set Flag and check flag and then the next condition of stochastics to take the trade, but sometimes Trades seems to be opened way worse then actual prices of Bands after prices is already at other bands and not like Selling when price is acutal at upper band for instance.https://fxdreema.com/shared/wyNb0YPHb
Thx

The flag will only change when the condition connect to it on top will be making it change. That means the logic used to connect the conditions is what if wrong.
-
So you mean the flag connection itself is wrong?
Talked to Mr. jstap about flags before.
So if flag trigger is hit, it waits until condition for the Bollinger Band touch/ cross above/ below happens again, then a new flag would count right?
What i've noticed from backtesting i would like to prevent buying when there is "band walking" and market is keeps on rising and touches band every candle until momentum changes even when candles went outside the band and come back in.
I've found that i need sometimes like the flag to make it count even if band is crossed or simply touched, because due to market volatility only need to prevent buying every touch/ bounce of band.
What i've noticed that most of the times the trigger of the band can appear some candles before, before the actual cross of stochastic and or MACD happens.
In some situations when market makes smooth Lower Higher Trend it works even when market stays inside the band and touches it from inside.
Do you have a tip for indicator to prevent fake signals from the bands when there is significant momentum?
Found from backtesting to keep this strategy as simply as possible with only bollinger bands and some Crossover confirmation like Stochastic and or MACD would work great.

Rename 1 of your flags, at the minute they are both the same, so when 1 of your conditions is correct, buy and sell flags, can create a trade.
-
Ok got it, so it can differ between buy and sell conditions.
So you mean kinda like this?https://fxdreema.com/shared/k83CLl5ge
Ok, i understand that, but how can this help prevent false signals when market is trending/ Band walking?
You know, like the band trigger is still active.
-
Yes to separate buy & sell, I don't know how to stop band walking, is the biggest problem with BB, you will have to find logic that will prevent unwanted trades.
-
Ok i see. Thanks.
Yes but any problem can be solved. Found from backtesting that only depends on momentum shift. That steam dimnishes. What i couldn't find in FXdreema is to make it do is that Stochastic Lines really need to cross above/ below 80/20 Level. You know to make it only enter when probability isn higher because it returns back.

Unfortunately same thing doesnt seam to apply to use cross over of stochastic as Take Profit.
Did post in another thread.
I only found a way to make the main line the signal line in conditions, but then not with certain value level conditions or not for take profit only.

-
I think this has worked for me, if you want to check when a indicator has crossed a lever, check level on ID2, like>80 then check level on ID1, like<80, this will tell you if line has crossed. You can set this up on flags so you know what range the indicator is in.

Test this separately, use 2 condition blocks to work out if this has happened.
-
Ok, but "block" you mean just 1 beige round condition, like on the picture "Stochastic main line crosses" or do you mean an entire row/ tree?
So to set flag for each? -
for example no position = 1 block, blocks either do 1 thing, or multiple blocks will do the 1 thing
-
Ok ´, just asking so you simply mean like the beige/yellow condition onces as block?
