Custom Higher time frame scanner

Hi guys,
I'm trying to create a "relatively" simple EA that shows market bias from a higher timeframe. Basically I just want to print a word or a button that changes colour or says buy/sell. Can't figure out how to do that.

Basically I'm using a MA rising/falling to define the trend.

The other question is my HTF is range bars on an offline chart, will this work? seems to but obviously not with the backtest.
I managed to get it to print a arrows based on the higher time frame but how do I get them to show on older candles for visual backtesting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
