I'm new to the use of fxdreema. Although it seems like an amazing program in itself, I'm obviously a bit clueless. I'm spending hours and hours trying to figure out how to use some functions. And, I don' t consider myself unintelligent. So, let's address one, in hopes that I can see the flaw in my approach by coming to understanding this. A thanks in advance.

So, I'm trying to use time filters...any of them. Let's consider "Time Filter." I set it for "Server time" to 00:01 and 23:59 as starting and ending time. (That should pretty much pass everything!) Yet, it does not pass to the next command: Play sound.

No matter what setting I try in Time filter, hour filter, or minute filter, there is never a pass to the next step. Obviously, I'm totally misunderstanding how to use these filters. Please help me.

      Thank you.

Sounds does not work in the Tester. Here are more limitations - https://fxdreema.com/help/-/you%20shoul ... n%20limits
Otherwise "Time Filter" should work. I just tested it between 00:01 and 23:59 with "Draw Arrow" connected to it, it works for me - https://fxdreema.com/shared/yAEoByVnd

Thank you for your answer. I found that the "time filter" only passed if I entered the times in component format, not text format. So, I at least know how to make that work now, though it seems that's a glitch. Or perhaps I'm just not getting it.

Now, I'm working on using the "if trade/order exists" filter. Here's what's happening:

          1. I leave the Group# empty.

          2. Market mode is "specified markets

          3. Filter by type is Buys and Sells

          4. I have placed a working order and a pending order on the chart.

          5. The filter does NOT pass if I link it to the next step using the orange connection. It DOES pass if I link using the yellow connection. (Isn't that the opposite of how it should work?)

          6. Further complication. The pass switch does not change if I place or remove an order. In other words, if it is not passing because there are not orders (hooked to the yellow), it does NOT start passing when an order is placed. I need it to switch when the order situation changes.

          7. I'm having a terrible time getting the filters to work for me. Their expected logic just doesn't seem to work for me. Thanks for your time and patience.

BTW, I'm testing each step using a live demo account, not the tester.

              I'm frustrated!

Not only does "if trade/order exist" only pass if the yellow connection is used, when there ARE trades, but the same is true for "if pending order exists" and "if trade is running." Really strange...and frustrating.

Now, I'm trying to use the "close profitable trades" and "Close less profitable trade," with no luck.

              1. A running trade exists. It's profitable.
              2. I'm using Pass as the beginning instruction, so as to not have anything interfere.
              3. I've set up "close profitable trade" with Group# empty, Market Mode as "any market", Filter by type to "buys and sells", and take profit to "Pips" and "0".
              4. It does not close the trade.

Just what am I missing? I read instructions, when they can be found. I check and double check my settings. I think it through step by step to make sure it makes sense. But, I"m having no luck getting this to work for me.

Please help, however you can. Am I missing something? Is my logic wrong? Is there something in common that is causing me to misinterpret how things should be working?

              Thank you.

Not to overload you, but I'm adding things, hoping that the combination of what I'm experiencing might help you understand what is going on.

Tried this combination this morning: pass -- if trade/order exists -- blink the chart.

As before, filter only passes if connection to blink the chart is through yellow terminal, not orange. (A manually placed order exists on the chart.)

So, still the question of why the opposite terminal expected. But also, shouldn't the blink the chart stop when the order is then closed? It just keeps on going.

Pass is not switch, this block does nothing, it just passes. By "pass" I mean that the orange output becomes active and the blocks connected to it are caused to run. So this block does nothing inside, but it's useful sometimes.

                  This: https://fxdreema.com/shared/1KmucIQM
                  gives me this: http://prntscr.com/ad9g3c

I think you are working with the desktop version, but I don't expect problems in these block in either version. Note that the desktop version is now 1/2 year old and I don't remember reports about these blocks. Make sure that your trade/order has the same Group number, which is empty (or 0). Or, if you work with manually created trades/orders, set that Group parameter to "All..." or in the projects settings set Magic Start to 0. Manual trades/orders have magic number of 0 and here is the link between MagicStart, Group and the magic number - https://fxdreema.com/help/-/working%20w ... d%20groups

There we go! That's been my problem all along with all of these filters. I was using manually created orders to test the filters.

I tried the "if orders/trades exist" with the changes and now....the block passes the command when connected to the orange connector, as it should.

Seriously, I used to do some program and I was becoming concerned that my brain's circuitry fried somewhere along the line here. 🙂

Thank you for you help, sir!

I guess that people have hard times understanding what Magic Number is used for, and it was hard for me too, but there is a good reason for it to exists. You have only one "pool" of trades and orders, but you are also able to put not one, but many EAs at the same time + to create trades manually. This number is used to separate trades. Each EA should work with it's own trades and not touch others.

Magic Number is not mandatory, but by default in fxDreema this thing is set (via MagicStart). If it wasn't that way, I believe that every 3rd question to me would be something like "What happened to my trades? I added this EA and everything was closed, everything! I don't want that!"

Understood...and appreciated. You have put together an amazing piece of software!

Now that I've got this problem solved, I do believe that I will have my EA built by the time my head hits the pillow tonight.

                        Kudos to you!

Ok, so now I'm back to the same issue regarding the EA recognizing trades. Here's what's happening:

In trying to use Break Even (each trade), the EA wasn't adjusting the SL. So, I put a comment in to indicate whether the EA was reading the present trade: Trade Statistics -- Trades Count -- Now (current trades only)

The Project Options Magic Number is set to 0, which is confirmed when i open properties on the running EA.

Here's what's interesting. If I open a trade while the EA is runing, the comment indicates the opened trade. If I close the trade, it indicates no trade present. So, that's working fine. The EA is recognizing correctly the presence or lack of a trade.

                          Until.....

I close MT4 (with trade still opened), then reopen MT4. Now,the comment indicates 0 trades present. Nothing has changed. I simply closed and opened MT4. So, the EA is recognizing the trade as long as the trade was opened while the EA is running, and only within the same session. If the MT4 is closed, it cancels any recognition.

                          Ideas? Thanks

I have to check what is going on in these Trade Statistics, but I will recommend to NOT use them if possible. These work on a global level including all Trades/Orders. The EA itself is supposed to work with it's own trades and orders (most of the time). Because of that there is something called Magic Number. Manually created trades have Magic Number equal to 0. Otherwise it's some different number. Here is more about it - https://fxdreema.com/help/-/working%20w ... d%20groups
