      hey there,

if i want to build a condition that says:

if the (outer/inner) bollinger bands are close to each other: don't sell/buy.

      how would i do that?

      thanks in advance.

You would first need to find the difference between the upper and lower BBs and set that as a variable. Then in your condition of buying or selling, you need to make sure that the value of that variable is higher than (x) to allow it to pass. If that value is lower then it will be false and not pass.

@kelly-morgan hey kelly, thanks a bunch.

of course the next question is how do i substract the value of the lower band from the value of the upper band?

i am trying to find my way into this, so this would be an interesting tutorial.

          thank you!

You're welcome. Use the formula block under condition:

@kelly-morgan allright, read a few pages on that, i think i understood how to set a variable.
now that i have it, how can i integrate the value (upper BB - lower BB e.g.) as a condition?

              couldn't find a block: "if variable XY lower Z" > don't trade

i am probably thinking this wrong- is there any tutorial / smth to read on that?

              thanks again.

I'm sure there's something on here that describes this in some way. Let the search box be your friend 😄 and anything miro1360 posts. I have learned best by searching and then trial and error. You'll get it. I've banged my head on the desk trying to figure stuff out and I still run into problems lol. Just takes time.

You might be able to do this:

                    @famuzz

check distance block would also do the trick i think , select the upper and lower bollingerband and select the pips you want

@timmyhanke that's in fact easier to do, thanks!

works great for my specific request, but it's also nice to learn two ways to do it at once,

                      thanks guys!
