Do you use your EA for live trading?
-
@jsauter86 , can you share your trading time please. I want to test it with mine. But does the time you use is only best for eurusd?
-
@biztet the original one I posted is good to use on the 15 or 30m only, on EURUSD.
-
@jsauter86 do you mean the timeframe or trading time? Like 1300 to 1600?
-
@jsauter86 the previous backtest that you show is for how many days?
-
@biztet that was a year on MT4 all of 2020....but if you add in 2019 it doesn't change much. Doesn't look to be the same on MT5. slight variety. I am doing some testing and optimizing now.
-
Ok @jsauter86 . I'll be testing mine on monday when i get back. Thanks.
-
This is what I want to do with my testing, so is this from switching from MT4 to MT5?
-
@jsauter86 this is what I want to do with my testing, what software did you use to get best days, time of the day etc
-
@gtoat777 mt5 is best for data.
-
@jsauter86 if you have time could you please guide me to backtest using mt5 optimizer? I understand from that test we can get the best setting for best result, right?
Do we need to tick all the input box to make it testable by the optimizer?
Like the indicator settings, money management options... -
i optimize in steps...but I don't know really know what I'm doing..I just guess best and see what happens.
Depending on how the EA is performing over time and what you're trying to achieve is where I'd start. First you have to figure out what you're optimizing first. If entries is your concern, do you need to optimize time first or an indicator? That'll depend on results and strategy style too.
So many considerations its hard to say 1 thing.
-
Ok thanks @jsauter86 .
I can observe the indicator, but not the time.
-
@biztet sorry, I dont know how to help unless I can see an example. If you can post the video results of a scan on youtube, or show me it in live action and then show the results at the end? i might be able to help
-
@jsauter86 Ok thank you, so once I’ve finished me EA convert to MT5 to run the backtest? Will results differ from generally running your EA on MT4 and MT5
-
@gtoat777 mine did, much more accuracy on MT5.
-
@jsauter86 ok so you recommend is just move to MT5 altogether now with my EAs rather than remain using MT4?
-
from a testing a functionality stand point...yes. There are reasons people use MT4. I couldn't tell you why really, you get a lot of statistical data after testing EA's on MT5 and thats worth a ton to me.
-
you can not just copy and paste EAs from mt4 to mt5, there are different blocks. Its best to remake it 1 by 1 block when transferring over.
