Renumbering Many Blocks Starting From 1posted in Questions & Answers
Is there a quick way to reset multiple block ID numbers?
For example, if I have 100 block in my project and the ID's start from 50 and run through to 150 (possibly even higher ending block numbers if blocks were added and deleted throughout the building process), is there a way to request they all be brought back to start from 1 and proceed up one number at a time (that is, without skipping any numbers) to end exactly at block ID 100 with the last block?
The order of the numbers (that is, which block gets the number 1 and which one ends up with number 100) is less important but if we can control that, even better (by, for example, selecting a group of blocks and then assigning them a number range and then continue to highlight the remaining groups of blocks and continue to assign these groups number ranges until the whole project has been numbered).

Find Swap Rates Before Order Openedposted in Questions & Answers
Hi, how can I check the swap rates for a currency pair and use this as part of the criteria for opening or not opening a trade (e.g. if SELL swap positive, only open SELL position based on further conditions)?

RE: Is Server Time = MT4 Platform Time?posted in Questions & Answers
I think you'll find that it isn't exactly... my MT4 platform is hosted by ICM who's servers are in NY.
But, when I use SERVER TIME and test it, it actually identifies market open (21pm GMT, 8am local Syndey and 5pm NY) as 00:00am - so SERVER TIME should perhaps better be labeled PLATFORM TIME.
Here's the clearest I can get: when I set NO TRADES BETWEEN 00:00 and 01:00 on a Monday SERVER TIME, my EA does not open any trades between 8am - 9am Monday Sydney time (currently; 7am - 8am winter time and 9am-10am summer time) which corresponds exactly with my PLATFORM TIME of 00:00 to 01:00am (even the journal records it as 00:00 and 01:00am). Meanwhile, NY time is 17:00 to 18:00pm on a Sunday (always because ICM shift their server time between GMT +2/+3) and GMT is 21:00 to 22:00pm on a Sunday. So, while SERVER TIME 00:00 to 01:00am on Monday SHOULD mean no trades occur between 15:00 and 16:00pm on a Monday my local time, the EA is somehow being told that SERVER TIME is actually precisely PLATFORM TIME which always coincides exactly with MARKET OPEN time - that is, a SERVER TIME of 00:00am is always equivalent to PLATFORM TIME / CHART TIME of 00:00am.
Will SERVER TIME behave the same for all brokers (that is what I don't know...)?

RE: Is Server Time = MT4 Platform Time?posted in Questions & Answers
It would only be easier if all brokers used server time 00:00 at start of Monday Sydney session - can I be sure they all do?
What if I build my EA to not open any traders on Mondays during 00:00am to 04:00am at SERVER TIME (which will work for my broker) but then someone from Croatia decides to use my EA and his/her brokers SERVER TIME uses a different time method? Their EA won't block trades at market open but instead some hours later...
So, instead of stating that SERVER TIME is easier, please just confirm that SERVER TIME will always act in the same manner NO MATTER WHAT BROKER - that is, it will always use a common time, such as opening of markets in Sydney on a Monday morning (which in Sydney local time is either 7am or 8am depending on time of year; DLS) will be set to 00:00am for all MT4 platforms no matter which broker.

Is Server Time = MT4 Platform Time?posted in Questions & Answers
Hi,
I am considering changing my day and time filters from GMT to Server.
I am currently using GMT so that my EA can be used by any user regardless of their brokers server times but the limitation is that market open according to GMT is at 9pm on a Sunday evening which means only 3 hours of market open can be controlled using GMT time (Sunday 9pm to 23:59pm).
My broker uses New York 5pm as its server time but it's platform time simply records 00:00 at market open on a Monday and finishes around 23:57pm on a Friday for market close.
So, while markets open at 8am in Sydney on Monday mornings, the platform records this as 00:00am - this is different to GMT, New York AND Sydney time...
So if I change my filter to look for Server time (instead of GMT), what will my EA do - will it match Platform time? That is, if I use Server time to disable trading on a Monday between 00:00am and 04:00am, will it stop trading between 00:00am and 04:00am Platform time or between 00:00am and 04:00am New York time... (which is where my brokers server is located)?

Sam

RE: Risk % of Free Margin - sometimes calculates incorrectlyposted in Questions & Answers
Hi again,
I'm a bit upset because the EA did the same thing again this morning - I even delayed the trading for the first hour after open (I will delay for 4 hours next week - it's costly to lose $130 just on testing).
Again, this mornings trade exactly the same error - it opened and set SL at 10 pips not 5 and TP at 6.4 pips (i checked the setting and it's set to 128% of SL so the 6.4 pips TP are accurate).
There was no modifying of stops - it literally opened the position at 1hr and 2 seconds after market open (remember I programmed a 1 hour market open dealy) which was immediately 10 pips in loss and closed immediately at a $130 loss (2% of account) - is this an early market open slippage issue?
Like I've said, this has happened three out of the four weeks it has traded the USDCHF weekly and the fourth time it also lost the trade but didn't open it until 3 hours after market open (I was late to start up the trading platform) and so it set the 5 pip SL correctly - I am suspecting that market open conditions for USDCHF in particular are way too slow (high slippage, low liquidity) that somehow it wacks out the EA.
Can I send you the mq4 file for viewing - it's only about 25 blocks...
Other trades opened at the same time 1 hour after market open this morning (AUDUSD 1W, GBPUSD 1D, NZDUSD 1Mo, USDCAD 1D and USDCAD 1W) all set up correclty using the same EA and while some of them opened in relative high loss positions (again assuming because of low liquidity and high slippage; some one was 33% of SL in loss and one about 25%), their SL were wide enough that this didn't trigger their SL and they have since recovered nicely and I'm sitting at a $122 profit across the 5 trades.
So the algorithm works just I need to know why the USDCHF at 5 pips at market open on a Monday morning gets almost always triggered in loss - should I set to delay for 4 hours and see if that fixes it?
Lastly, if I set the 'Hours' and 'Days' filter block to 'Server Time', can I set it to not trade Monday between 00:00 and 04:00 to successfully stop trades at Sydney market open (I'm currently using GMT Sunday and GMT 21:00-23:59 which converts to 8am-10:50am Sydney time but will using Server time as described work)? More directly, will using Server Time (Monday and 00:00 onward) work for all brokers and MT4 platforms regardless of where the server/platform/broker operates from - I chose GMT time so that anyone can use my EA around the world but I suspect that Server Time does the same (all servers will record 00:00 at market open on a Monday even if the server is technically located in, say, NY which is a different time to both Sydney and GMT).
