I am building my first MT5 ea. I have done quite a few for MT4 & I am familiar with fxdreema. When testing using the strategy tester I get random results. Sometimes it takes the trades correctly & other times I get the Market closed (10018) error. I see that other users have had the same issue, without a reported solution Here is a link to my project.

I have also sent an email to support
      Thanks

@dore I'm still struggling with the 4002 error and I'm afraid this is a common feature for MT5 in fxDreema. I hope the admin can provide a solution for your error. Could you please share it here when it is fixed?

(English) I will try to help everyone in these fxDreema forums. But if you want to learn how to use the platform in depth or more quickly, I can help you with my introductory fxDreema course in English at https://www.theandorraninvestor.eu.

Update: I downloaded & installed MT5 from a different broker. Now when I run my EA I do not get the market closed error? I am familiar with FxDreema but new to MT5 & the strategy tester. I wonder if it is something that I am doing wrong. One of the reasons for switching to MT5 was that the strategy tester should be better than what is available on MT4?
I will try & contact the broker support to see if they can help

@dore sometimes its best to program your EA to trade only during the times of day your broker trades (logically its a huge deal if you are trying to trade in the first 2 minutes of a new day for instance since some brokers stop trades. in an bot test it would stop the EA. or if the day you selected starts on a sunday, sometimes it just wont start until you move time to test.

I contacted my broker They confirmed that on their server The market is closed from 23:58 to 00:04. So that explains the market closed error. Now as TipsyWisdom mentioned I will have to try & program my EA not to trade during that time. Ideally, I would like to take the trades a short time before the end of the candle to avoid the potential larger spreads Let's say somewhere between 23:30 to 23:45. This should be fun!!

the developer isnt at fault here. its us, the users. @Dore in our group discord, just @ someone for the blocks you need to cancel out any time frame to avoid trading. its already built, we fixed this error a few weeks ago. Well, another member discovered the solution

only allow the EA to trade when the broker allows you to is the base answer (and each asset class doesn't always have the same times, hint hint)

Other times though, I believe it to simply be logical errors when we are not able to account for holidays or other days of the year the markets were closed historically. The problems comes with the precise details. Markets open at 0000, yet most brokers are delayed to 0003 or 0005. So if it so much as produces a signal the EA will try to trade it, but the brokers trade hours won't be open yet.

Either way though, only depending on what your strategy relies on...even if leaving it alone and doing nothing, for most people it will not affect their EA's. It just results in a missed trade. Its only significant if you are closing position by opposing trade.

You could also Add block on Gray dot to confirm if your EA Buy/Sell is successful or not.
                      (See Block 6052)
By Doing this you can circumnavigate the Market Closed error when Broker Server is not yet fully online.
