Ok so ive hanged the conditions here so first condition is 12 MA being above the 28 MA, second condition is it being below after 8 candles and then 3rd condition is it crossing above at candle 15 thats when i want it to buy

No thats not what i mean, i dont mean if it crosses above then Buy if it crosses below then Sell. This is a double crossover meaning if it goes below then comes back, picture it being like a pull back and then price continues in trend direction

Ok so this project is a double crossover, so for the 12MA to cross below the 28 MA then crosses back at some point. SO imagine the 28 MA is a straight line and the 12 MA acts as a V meaning it goes under the line then comes back up
Let me know if ive done this correct and if not what adjustments i need to make. This is a simple trial project

Haha no my friend I’m not frustrated at all, it’s just the markets are forever changing so doing thorough backtest at times seem like a bit of a waste of time, some strategies that worked in the 1980s do not work in this market, some strategies from even 5 years ago don’t seem to work in this market, trading is like sports it’s forever changing and evolving so you have to just get with the times.

To a certain extent I believe with FX strategies, staying on a concept of sports , it’s like saying will a player today be able to play in all eras, it doesn’t really matter as long as they’re successful in today’s game that’s all that matters.

I feel as if backtesting is a dying art and plus backtesting to then using the EA live drastically changes results.

Unless is there a software which gives great results, what software do these Quant funds use?

Don’t need an EA for that just use Trade Copier

@bk7 Ok thanks but looking back i dont think i explained it well, lets say the 10MA crosses the 20MA but 4-5 candles later crosses back over how do i do that. I didnt mean crosses straight away on the same candle

How would I do a condition that when the MAs cross but then cross back again buy or sell.

So for example 10MA cross the 20MA downwards but then cross back upwards place a buy trade.

For now this question is more about the MA crossing because I wouldn’t want to do an instant buy/sell I would to place an order on the candle close when it crosses back.
