Am having the same issue. Have followed instructions above and "apply template" definitely doesn't work as you describe. Could you double check? Thx

Note: for those struggling with this, rename your template to tester.tpl in MT4 template folder and then the tester will load the template before running the EA.

I cannot seem to use the "Apply Template" block to attach a template to a chart using strategy tester. I can get all other chart objects to work but not this one. Am I missing something. I am having difficulty using properties to define the relative path.

The default value in this block is ADX and there is file ADX.tpl in /templates. So you obviously don't need to write any path until /templates, only write relative path if you have subfolders in /templates

I just saved my template file as MyTemplate.tpl in the folder that appears when I go to Template -> Save Template...

Look if you have some error messages in the logs

Doesn't work for me either.

Maybe this has to do with the new location of templates:
C:\Users\Michael\AppData\Roaming\MetaQuotes\Terminal\50CA3DFB510CC5A8F28B48D1BF2A5702\templates

In that directory there is a Default.tpl, whjich I excatly apply as in your code.
Doesn't work.

I personally work in portable mode, but I will try how it works in normal mode now

Meh... I made my own template_name.tpl in C:\Users\AseasRoa\AppData\Roaming\MetaQuotes\Terminal\895AEF54B8EBC0830E6E4451E66E7386\templates, then in "Apply Template" I just wrote template_name and it worked, no problems at all. Do you have some error messages at least?

Don't know why it's not working here.
Only thing I could imagine is a language issue (I'm using Win10 German).

Anyway I found a workaround.
You can apply a default template for the tester, named "Tester".

@l-andorrà I also tried using apply template and simply used the the "apply template" block on the oninit tab. It does not work (I am using MT5)

@l-andorrà I figured it out! I right clicked on the template file and copy and pasted the file path instead of the file name and it worked!
