In the next hours I will move the website to another VPS (more RAM, better price, very old company ). I already prepared the new place, the database is also copied, but at some point I will have to switch the IP address for the domain. I don't know how long this will take, because domain changes are sometimes slow, but I hope it will happen fast.

Everything will look exactly the same. I guess that at some point the website will be down and then it will show up. Right now the database is automatically copied to the new place. When I submit this post, it will be written on both databases. So I only have to turn off the old system, wait few seconds and turn on the new system. I think I will turn off the EA builder of the old system and only leave this forum, because of this topic.
The problem comes from the domains...
I tested how quickly one of my unused domains switches the IP addresses and it took I think less than hour. The thing is that our computers are using some cache, so they don't have to ask for the IP address of every domain all the time. That's why our computers will think that fxdreema.com leads to the old IP when it already links to the new... until they update their cache. But there is a command to clear the cache. It's similar to the way cookies work in browsers. Here is the command for everyone who wants to clear that cache, in case the EA builder is not reachable:
ipconfig /flushdns
-
Understood!!!
So, do you think it would be better to do not use the Builder for a period of time?
Thanks

Work on your projects. If for some reason something breaks, reload the page or go to History (upper right corner of the EA) and select older history point.

I found that the HDD speed of the new VPS is too slow, so I have to connect with their support. I will switch after they fix this issue
-
note that some VPS providers are thieves and after few months of use they decrease parameters of your VPS, like speed of CPU, HDD speed ... and this will cause overload in CPU time (because CPU must working harder) and all will be veeery slow
thieves give you offer for their faster VPS program as a solution
(note, that you will be see the same parameters in system, but application speed will be slower) ...

Yes it can be difficult finding trustworthy providers but I think amazon's service, AWS, is quite fairly priced and a company of that size shouldn't be involved in unscrupulous activities. At least if they were there should be enough users to call them out. I also think security and privacy are vital for a VPS, something I'm always unsure of with smaller providers.

I wrote a support ticket with all details and screenshots and the answer I got was like this "I would suggest you to upgrade the server to a dedicated server for better performance."
The problem I have now on the new VPS - very slow Disk performance - happened once in the current VPS. At least the support guy is more responsive here and he helps when something goes wrong. But there are strange things here as well. For example, I never got licensed Windows and I see that "Activate Windows" message on the desktop all the time. Not that I care, if it works
One day I got a message telling me that they upgrade something and I need to set up a new server. It was 1-2 years ago that we did that, and I experienced many problems until the new VPS back then (which is the current one now) started working properly. I joked about that in the support ticket and he told me that he will leave me on the current system, but with a higher price. Excuse me, but I'm pretty sure that in technology normally the prices goes down with the time for the same parameters. That's why I decided to move somewhere else and I found InterServer. But I have bad start with them
AWS is probably good, but I don't understand them at all. There is a huge ocean of services and prices, I don't even know where to look at
-
I agree amazon doesn't make it easy to understand, there are so many choices with non-descriptive names. I'm only familiar with basic private VPS's and have no idea what you require to host a website unfortunately. (outside of the simple online creators)
I think customer support would be the best point of contact, or perhaps do some testing with services that don't require a contract until you find one that works comfortably and at a good price. That said, maybe InterServer will improve and you can stick with them. Good to have choices though.

I don't require a lot, the current system has only 2GB of RAM on Windows and the CPU is low most of the time. The HDD speed is important, because the database is stored on the disk and of course we don't want slow reads and writes. I mean, too slow, because we know what normal HDD drives are capable of. For example, here are few tests from my personal PC, from the current VPS and from the new VPS:
The new VPS shows better numbers for 4KiB, but the numbers for Seq are so low that they don't look normal to me.

I am very satisfied with contabo.com VPS with SSD performance, exactly this one:
https://contabo.com/?show=configurator&vserver_id=185
huge RAM, six cores and speed of SSD, unbeatable
... they have reasonable prices + licensed windows (you need check box while order), speed of VPS was really really fast, I never get problems and it past it has runned >15 metatraders with EAs at once and still have resourceswithout problems (I am with them > 2 years) ... previous I tried a lot of VPS and all was slow, maximal 2-3 metatraders and resources of VPS was on 100% ... amazon is not cheap ... and is slow for that price ..
I am talking about VPS up to 20USD/month ... -
Wow that is really low, slower than a cheap old USB 2 memory stick I have. The numbers look so similar on the new VPS that to me it seems throttled, something can't be right.
You could give the free trial of AWS a try:
https://aws.amazon.com/free/
https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/pricing/It only applies to the t2.micro which has 1GB ram but you could do some tests with it at no cost. For 2GB you need the t2.small instance. Even then it might not be right for you, watch for bandwidth allowance because I think you only get 15GB a month included, anything more you're billed for. There's amazon lightsail as well which I believe is a simplified version of EC2 but again, it's getting confusing so I understand you avoiding them.
I'm sure there are many reputable providers but while I have used others I don't know any real details about them. For example, I've used vultr.com/pricing but I know nothing about them as a company so I can't blindly recommend them based off 1 experience. They do use SSD's though and the prices aren't bad. There's also digitalocean.com/pricing who use SSD's as well but now I'm just listing providers without any knowledge if they're reliable and trustworthy.

I think what Miro is suggesting is possibly more suitable if you can trust them, that's some pretty amazing specs for the price from Contabo. As I say my experience is more down the tiny personal cheap VPS route. I agree that amazon isn't cheap when you climb the scales but I think it's fairly priced for a well known trustworthy company, especially if you can keep to the small options.
-
Thank you guys. Someone from InterServer gave me another VPS to test, but it is exactly the same situation. I think the website will work on this, but it doesn't look good.
AWS is strange, I don't know. I don't like too big companies in general, but I can try it
Contabo is suspicious because it's so cheap, but obviously there is no guarantee even if the price is average. Here is something interesting - https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/contabo-com-are-cheap-and-scam.548279/ -
Indeed, so it comes back to who can you trust, my main concern in this thread. Out of interest how come you don't use Linux?
-
hi can anybody tell me why its showing this action not allowed for basic user????
-
@hemantpremi Because of money, money, money :))) https://fxdreema.com/purchase

Much better

it were old comments for contabo, in 2013, you can see that somebody commented with similiar experience in 2017 as me ... I tried them in 2016+2017 fully years ... parallel was here runing AWS free (until free ended) with 1gb ram and it was permanently restarted every two weeks, and was so sloooooow
contabo was restarted 1x per 2 months ...
and contabo sent me emails before this restart (it was some changes in their infrastructure or PS change, etc)...anyway guys, this is my experience with contabo, I can not guarantee nothing in general (I am not working for them), only tell you my experience
.... for 20USD/month such speed still be unbeatable
